Authors, reviewers and editors must disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could influence the work. Editors with a conflict recuse themselves from handling the manuscript.
All submissions are screened with similarity-detection software. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism and redundant publication are grounds for rejection or retraction.
Authors are encouraged to share underlying data. Each article includes a data-availability statement describing how and where the data can be accessed.
Research on human participants requires ethics-committee approval and informed consent, following the Declaration of Helsinki. Animal studies must meet applicable welfare standards and approvals.
Personal data of authors, reviewers and readers is used only to operate the journal and is never sold. Patient identifying details are never published without explicit consent.
Authors retain copyright of their work. Articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence, permitting reuse with attribution.
Every article is immediately and permanently free to read, download and share worldwide, with no subscription or reader charges.
Honest errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Work found to be unreliable or unethical is retracted with a clear, public notice following COPE guidance.
