Peer review process

Every manuscript submitted to AJRI undergoes rigorous double-blind peer review. Reviewers do not know the authors' identities, and authors do not know the reviewers' — ensuring every decision rests on scientific merit alone.

The Process

From submission to publication

Step 01 · Within 1 week

Initial editorial screening

The editorial office checks every submission for completeness, formatting, plagiarism, and fit with the journal's aims and scope. Manuscripts that pass screening move to peer review; those that don't are returned to authors with an explanation.

Step 02 · 3–6 weeks

Scientific peer review

The handling editor invites at least two independent, subject-expert reviewers. Reviews are double-blind: manuscripts are anonymized before being sent out. Reviewers assess originality, methodology, analysis, ethical compliance, and clarity.

Step 03 · Author-dependent

Author revision

When revisions are requested, authors receive consolidated, constructive reviewer comments. Minor revisions are typically due within 2 weeks and major revisions within 4–6 weeks, with extensions available on request.

Step 04 · 1–2 weeks

Editorial decision

The handling editor weighs the reviews and revised manuscript and issues a decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Final acceptance decisions rest with the editorial leadership.

Step 05 · Upon acceptance

Production & publication

Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, typeset, and proofed with the authors. Articles publish online first and are then assembled into the quarterly issue — freely accessible to readers worldwide.

Principles

What guides our reviews

Fairness

Double-blind review removes bias linked to identity, institution, or geography. Every manuscript is judged on merit.

Timeliness

We respect authors' time. Clear target timelines govern each stage, and authors can request status updates at any point.

Constructiveness

Reviews are expected to be specific, respectful, and actionable — helping authors strengthen their work regardless of outcome.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts under review are strictly confidential. Reviewers may not share, cite, or use unpublished material.

Independence

Reviewers and editors must declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves whenever objectivity could be questioned.

Accountability

Editorial decisions are documented and explained. Authors may appeal decisions with a reasoned response to the editor.

For Reviewers

Reviewer responsibilities

  • Accept invitations only within your area of expertise and when you can meet the deadline.

  • Declare any conflict of interest before reviewing.

  • Evaluate methodology, originality, ethics, and clarity — not the authors.

  • Flag suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical concerns to the editor confidentially.
